Robert brings over two decades of litigation experience across Singapore and Malaysia. 

With prior stints at Zaid Ibrahim & Co. and Drew & Napier LLC, Robert has handled high-value shareholder disputes, defamation claims, and arbitration matters with precision. After running his own successful practice, Gravitas Law LLC, for seven years, he later served as Senior Regional Legal Counsel at a Dutch multinational.

Now a Director at Silvester Legal, Robert’s deep regional insights and litigation acumen continue to serve clients navigating complex cross-border and corporate disputes.

Acted for concert promoters, including LAMC Productions, in the structuring and negotiation of key commercial arrangements for major live events in Singapore, including the Scorpions and Guns N' Roses concerts, involving investor, sponsorship, and venue agreements.

Advised an international F&B group (Swiss-owned) on cross-border expansion, including drafting franchise agreements for markets such as Japan and Spain, and technology-related agreements for its digital ordering platform.

Advised a German brewery group, including Paulaner Bräushaus, on contract brewing and bottling arrangements in Singapore.

Acted for a US-based education provider in the structuring and review of master and unit franchise agreements for its Singapore operations.

Advised clients across industries on a wide range of commercial agreements, including joint ventures, shareholder agreements, software development agreements, and co-promotion arrangements.

Acted in cross-border commercial transactions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including advising on introducer agreements and fee protection arrangements involving Malaysian, US, and BVI entities.

Represented senior executives and corporates in defamation disputes, including actions arising from internal corporate communications.

Acted in shareholder and partnership disputes, including cases involving family-owned businesses and allegations of breach of fiduciary duties.

Represented liquidators in claims against former directors and related parties involving wrongful conduct, breach of duties, and fraudulent or unfair preference transactions.

Acted in complex commercial litigation against financial institutions involving claims of misrepresentation and breach of duty of care.

Represented clients in medical negligence claims against hospitals and healthcare professionals in Singapore.

Acted in estate and succession disputes on behalf of beneficiaries.

Acted for rights holders, including film producers, in enforcement actions against copyright infringement, including in relation to the film Dallas Buyers Club.

Acted in a landmark regulatory matter involving civil penalty proceedings brought by the Monetary Authority of Singapore under the Securities and Futures Act.

Acted in UNCITRAL arbitration seated in Singapore involving an international oil & gas project, with claims exceeding US$20 million.

Represented parties in multiple Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) arbitrations, including disputes involving a global marine solutions company and commercial contractual claims.
